Educational Activities for Pediatrics Residents

During July, pediatric orientation lectures are arranged during Academic Half Day. The residents are offered NRP, APLS, PALS and ATLS. There are weekly Academic Half Days that are protected teaching time. The basic curriculum for the Academic Half Day follows a two-year cycle and each session is led by an assigned faculty member.

There are weekly Pediatric Grand Rounds that are also protected. There are various subspecialty seminars including Pediatric Surgical Grand Rounds, Pediatric Intensive Care Rounds, Genetics Rounds, Endocrinology Rounds and other subspecialties. There are resident run Journal Clubs, as well as bedside Teaching Rounds. There are monthly Mock Codes for trauma, Neonatal & Pediatric Codes. There are twice weekly morning teaching rounds that are resident run. All rounds incorporate the seven CanMEDS competencies.
