Royal College Part One Exam/STACER

The Royal College Part One Exam will be conducted in the fall of the residents PGY3 year. Residents will be examined as per the Royal College Guidelines. Residents will have a maximum of three attempts at this exam. If the resident is unsuccessful in their third attempt, a remediation program will be instituted and may delay the timing of the written and OSCE exam.

Residents are encouraged to do practice observed histories and physicals during non core rotations. Mandatory observed histories and physicals will be assigned to residents twice a year. Though the Royal College Part One Exam will have two faculty examining the residents, practice exams will only have one faculty assigned. The evaluation form is a guide for the examiner and not meant to be a checklist scoring system. Residents are advised to take a problem based comprehensive organized history and perform a problem based physical rather than attempting to get all the check points on the evaluation form. Attached are the relevant forms for the examination and practice sessions.
