Prerequisites and Admission Criteria

There are three streams in our program; the McMaster stream based in Hamilton, The Waterloo stream based in Kitchner-Waterloo and the CIP stream. Each has a separate CaRMS application process.

Selection Criteria

Residents should have an interest in pediatrics with a commitment to consultative academic or subspecialty practice, rather than primary care. As a mid-sized program there is significant opportunity for independence in the program, as well as flexibility and some experiences. There is an emphasis on team experience on the general pediatric ward. Residents are given greater responsibility as they progress from PGY1 to the PGY4 period. Successful candidates should demonstrate clinical competence, good communication skills, have a keen interest in child health and have serious commitment to the care of children.
